Launching of the Socio Economic survey

The PG & Research department of economics, Union Christian College Aluva launched the comprehensive Socio economic survey of the Karumalloor grama panchayat on 12th February 2016. The formal launching was presided by the college Principal, Mr G D Shiju, the panchayat president handed over the survey kits to the students. The session was honoured by the presence of Mrs Umaiba  Yousef, vice president of the panchayat and member of the U C College ward, Ms Jisha Manoj.

The B.A Economics students will conduct a socioeconomicsurvey of the panchayat as part of their undergraduate level project to be submitted to the Mahatma Gandhi University.

The data collected through systematic sampling of the nearly 7,000 households in the panchayat will be analysed for preparing a detailed report on the socioeconomic condition of the local body. Prof. Rajan Varughese, Head of the Department commented the report may help the panchayat authorities in drawing up realistic plans for allround development of the local area. The survey team will consist of 20 groups for 20 wards (3 students in each group –  one group for each ward). Work on collecting the data will begin on Friday.
