Students to prepare socioeconomic survey of the Karumalloor panchayat

The Department of Economics is organizing a comprehensive Socio-Economic Survey of the Karumalloor Grama Panchayat during the month of February 2016. The survey covers areas such as Education, Housing, Asset Ownership, Access to Services, Consumption Expenditure, Financial Inclusion, Employment, Health, Sanitation, Vulnerability, Social Mobility, Migration, MGNREGA, Ageing etc of the households in Karumalloor Panchayat area. It also examines the growth and composition of the Revenue and Expenditure of the Panchayat during the last five years.

The survey is conducted by the                 BA Economics students of the college, consisting of 20 groups for 20 wards  (3 students in each group – one  group for each ward), commencing from 12th  February 2016. The information gathered by the students is  used for preparing their Undergraduate level project to be submitted to the MG University. The data collected through systematic sampling of the nearly 7000 households in the Panchayat will be analyzed for preparing a detailed report on the  Socio-Economic  condition of the Karumalloor Panchayat.

The report may help the Panchayat authorities in drawing  realistic plans for the all round development of the local area.
