Established in 1921, the Department of Economics is one of the founding departments of the college. Led by Prof. V.M. Itteyerah, a distinguished academic and one of the college's visionary founders, the department has a proud legacy of academic excellence and holistic student development. We offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Economics, supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members.
Our department is committed to nurturing intellectual growth through a vibrant academic environment that combines a rigorous curriculum with skill-building opportunities. Special emphasis is placed on data analysis and research skills through hands-on workshops and training programs. We conduct regular open houses, tutorials, and remedial classes to support diverse learner needs. As part of our value-added offerings, we have hosted programs on Entrepreneurship Development, Intellectual Property Rights, and the Indian Constitution. Looking ahead, we aim to expand our portfolio with add-on courses focused on competitive exam preparation, data analytics, capital markets, and stock trading.
In addition to regular classes, through an active Economics Association and alumni support, we organize lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions on contemporary economic issues, communication skills, career guidance, and preparation for higher studies and competitive exams, including the civil services.
